What Is Energetic Hygiene?

Have you noticed that when you do energy work you feel drained? Or when you spend time with a large group of people you start to feel overwhelmed? This can be because you need to do some energetic hygiene. Energetic hygiene is the same as your regular hygiene routine. You take a shower to wash off dirt, sweat and grime. You brush your teeth to clean out the sugar, food, and bacteria. Your aura picks up other peoples energy during your day to day activities, and if you don’t clear it out you will start to feel it in your physical body.

Now that we know we are constantly exposed to other peoples energy let’s talk about what we can do to clear it out!

  1. Meditation- Always a great way to clear your mind. When you meditate try to imagine a waterfall of bright white healing light clearing out all the energy that isn’t yours.

  2. Grounding- Go outside (if the weather permits) and put your bare feet on the ground and imagine roots going into the ground. Imagine all the excess energy flowing through your feet into the ground.

  3. Call back your energy- This step will be for after you clear the old energy out. Just call back all your energy to you! Say “I call back all my energy to me!”

  4. Using crystals or incense to clear the energy out of your space- This is important for keeping your space cleared of built up energy. They also have spray cleansers for spaces where smoke isn’t possible!

  5. Exercise- YES. This is important. Move your body! The the energy flowing! Even a walk outside will help!

  6. Boundaries- This one is something a lot of people struggle with! Make sure to put boundaries up and stick to them. They really help your mental health. Say NO. Release that guilt! You don’t need it!

  7. Do things you love- It seems silly but doing things you love fills you up. Make sure to make time for those things!

If you feel you need to visit a reiki practitioner to help you, that is great too! They can help clear out your energy and tell you where you are having blocks. Always ask for help when you need it! We are all on a journey of learning and compassion.

Practicing energetic hygiene is something you should do everyday. Having your energy cleared and grounded is an amazing feeling. You will see your life and health improve!
