How Does Spirit Communicate With You?
Spirt “speaks” to us in so many ways! I know that we have all watched different movies and TV shows where there is some big dramatic moment when a psychic “sees” a vision or a spirit communicates by appearing boldly. But the truth of it is, spirit communicating is nothing like we see in the movies or TV. It isn’t some dramatic moment that hits us in the face. It can be a thought that randomly comes into your head, leaving you to wonder where it came from or why you had it. It could be a song that plays that makes you think of someone and then you run into that person shortly after. It can be a strong feeling that you need to move those pictures into a waterproof safe place, then your basement floods shortly after you do so.
We have many avenues that our intuition comes through to us. They will be different for everyone but here are some ways I have encountered: feelings, thoughts, tastes, smells, visions in your minds eye, finding items that spark a memory, turning a channel or radio station on to have someone say a specific sentence that feels like it is meant for you, thinking of someone and then the song you relate to them starts playing on the radio and the list goes on and on! I know that creating a list makes it easier for people to be able to look back at situations to see how spirit was communicating with them.
Now that you have a list to use as a reference, I want to share a few moments where spirit was communicating with me. The first situation happened this past November. My Grandma had 5 brothers growing up, and 4 of her brothers have passed on. One of the most recent deaths was in October. So the month of November was spent reminiscing old times. I had a dream one night at the end of November and a song kept playing LOUDLY in my head. It was the Faith Hill song “There You’ll Be”. I spent the day singing that song in my head trying to think of what movie it was from….then I finally remembered it was from the movie Pearl Harbor! So what was important about that? I thought about it for little bit and felt there was a message there but couldn’t think of what it was. I started telling my partner about it to see if I could puzzle it out. Then it hit me! Pearl Harbor happened December 7th, 1941. December 7th was one of her brothers birthday! Once I said it out loud I got goosebumps! It was confirmation for me that my Great Uncle was sending me a message!
The second situation was another time when a song started playing in my head. Songs are a great way for spirit to give me a message because I love listening to music. This song happened to be “September” By Earth, Wind, & Fire. I remembered the last experience and I had a thought that it might be another one of her brothers birthday! Turns out his birthday was September 21st. Just like they say in the song “Do you remember? The 21st night of September?”. I was blown away! I got such a good feeling from that moment and I could feel them there with me when I realized it was his birthday. Now, at this time we had been talking about her brothers hanging around because some of her items had been going missing…..only to end up somewhere else. She thought it was that particular brother because he was a trickster. Having that song come to me was just confirmation from him!
Another way I have noticed I get messages is through specific phrases. For example, I will get an odd phrase that comes to me all of a sudden that I don’t understand in that moment. Only to have someone repeat it to me days or a week later in the same exact way. To me this is a message to pay attention to what that person is talking about because it is important.
To notice these messages, we have to stay in the moment. They can pass us by so quickly! To say in the moment it is good to be mindful. Take some time everyday to do a meditation or take a quiet walk. There are many ways I have listed in my other posts that outline different ways to be mindful.
